Perhaps the ASM was scheduled for the end of December in anticipation of having the commercial manufacturing authorization for the Sawston plant complete by then?

and ...perhaps the coincidental timing is also meant to help put shareholders in a jolly mood (assuming the share price responds nicely to news of manufacturing approval), encouraging us to approve the board's request to authorize the issuance of 500 million more shares?
