The dendritic cell is akin to a supercomputer when it interacts with the immune system (based upon millions of years of trial and error).

Improved and recently patented DCVax-Direct, for example, goes directly toward and into the tumor, and releases the correct cytokines to wage war upon cells that are cancerous. It also uptakes (nibbles) and even destroys cancer cells itself before leaving the tumor site to further mature and migrate to the lymph nodes**. It thereafter instructs matching t-cells to attack the cancer cells that do not belong.

With CSF1R additionally administered, cells that might normally temper/decrease an immune response are blocked from the scene, thus allowing a full blown immune response. By not utilizing chemo, killer/effector t-cells are not exhausted as easily and the duration of cancer cell death is extended.
