Cryptocurrency actually had its beginnings in the post hippie days of the early 1970s
Satoshi Nakamoto's famous white paper described a replacement for fiat currency that would be stable
That didn't happen
It quickly was viewed as an asset
And still is viewed that way and promoted that way
