This is unfortunately now the party of Viktor Orban and Vladimir Putin. Orban is teaching the maga right how to disrupt democracy from the inside and Putin is working to disrupt democracy from the outside. From the NR lead paragraph:

Am I the only one that found the verb 'trump' somewhat ironic? What the hell does working with Maduro have to do with climate change? We need as much oil and NG this winter as possible. If that's not a strategic interest, I'm not sure what is. As for human rights, neither party really cares outside the US border. They can't vote. The Saudis can strangle and dismember a WaPo journalist and we'll kiss their ring. Their citizens can hijack planes and send them into our tallest buildings and into the Pentagon and we'll blame other countries while we escort the family of the lead terrorist out of the country to safety. We always do what's in our strategic interest. In Buckley's time, the NR understood that.
