* Agents were trying to verify claims Trump was in contact with Russian officials
* There were also allegations the Kremlin had compromising videos of Trump engaged in sexual activities at a Moscow hotel
* The 35-page document also claimed Trump paid prostitutes to urinate on a bed once slept in by Barack and Michelle Obama
* Auten said Steele didn't get the cash because he couldn't back up the claims
* The slew of Trump allegations in flawed dossier have since been debunked
* Auten was testifying in the federal trial of Russian analyst Igor Danchenko
* He is accused of lying to the FBI, and played a major role in creating the dossier
