Nasdaq dropping will likely drag Bitcoin down further over the weekend

I read an article a couple days ago about the woes of the mining industry. In 2nd quarter the industry lost over $1B. I don't think BTC prices are going up any time soon, so I had the thought, how long before miners start to go belly up. If that happens then what happens to the whole bitcoin thing. If there are no computers running to process the transactions, does bitcoin die?
