I do not know what you mean by closeouts. Please clarify.

Sometime in June 2006 Atherogenics said they would be starting "Site closeout" on August 1st (and would have topline data in early 2007).

I assumed that:

a) That means they anticipated getting 990 events by Aug 1st.

b) "Site closeout" is a standard term - but I don't know exactly what it means. In particular it would interesting to know whether they will continue to give drugs out until database lock and therefore will have 100 events more than the required-by-SPA 990. Since mgt probably knows that their best shot at efficacy is after 12 months would they be intentionally slow in shutting the trial down (they will still be getting topline results in Q1, but IMO the last possible time that would qualify as "early 2007") to get more events in the efficacious parts of the curve?
