I disagree.
If there was no comms, perhaps a few of the devoted followers would call it quits and move on.
But tossing out a tweet here and there, no matter how bogus, is like tossing out chum to fish; it draws them nearer so they're easier to hook.

At least there is communication, even though I do not think it is worth much but it is better than no communication.
