Vulcan Energie Ressourcen GmbH is working to produce climate-neutral #Lithium in the region. For this purpose, it not only wants to obtain #Erneuerbareenergien, but also directly the heat from geothermal energy. I got an idea of this myself in the laboratory in Karlsruhe-Durlach and at the pilot plant at the geothermal power plant in Insheim. Here, lithium is to be extracted to a large extent from the thermal water from the depths of the Upper Rhine Graben. Lithium is necessary, among other things, for the production of the batteries of most electric cars and thus decisive for the ecological #Transformation.

Innovative processes for the own extraction of critical raw materials can make an important contribution to making us more independent of authoritarian states such as #China. This not only makes our economy more resilient, we also remain capable of acting in foreign policy and secure climate-neutral #Wohlstand for the future.
