Canadian Retail Cannabis Sales Increased 29% in December to Record $382 Million

Hifyre IQ estimated that product categories have seen a shift towards non-flower products, which it estimates at a record 30% in December compared to 28.5% in November. In January, Hifyre estimates that non-flower products decreased to 29.5%, with a reduction in edibles driving the change.

This is good news for Decibel that consumers are switching to concentrates and other non-flower products. This was the biggest revenue generating category for them in their last quarterly report. Almost double what they did in flower and retail sales individually.

The current oversupply of flower has no end in sight with 700+ LP's now competing for mostly flower market share. Westleaf was smart to invest early in a Cannabis 2.0 lab facility in addition to the Thunderchild cultivation facility.

Now during times of oversupply they can use their own flower for high margin 2.0 products over currently lower margin packaged flower. Liking that Decibel is moving more into concentrates that can be replicated consistently, over hit or miss flower harvest outcomes.

To me this recent selloff in the cannabis sector is crazy considering cannabis sales are at record levels. Seems like no amount of good news moves the needle. If things don't change soon profitable cannabis companies may have to offer dividends to investors to raise capital. This would be a smart move to give back to your cannabis community investors.
