These types of stocks, I like to buy, when the market is in the dumps, like in 1974, 1982, 1987 and July to October 2002 but I'd never buy them in a Bull market. If these small companies can be profitable in horrible economic times, a person may find some gems. I picked up RTNH in the summer of 2002, bought it at $2.40, $2.00, $1.60 and $1.20, then sold it all several weeks ago at $3.24.
In 1982, I picked up a company by the name of Havenwood Ventures, at less than 1/2 cent per share, the company had no ongoing business, but somebody was filing all the forms and paying the fees, to keep it on the OTC list (at that time), I had several million shares out of some 300,000,000 shares issued. Eventually this shell, became a vehicle for a company (that now trades on the American Stock Exchange) to become a public company, they did a large reverse stock split, but even after that, I made a very large gain, from my original cost.
