I don’t think this patent has been awarded. It has simply reached the time (18 months after filing) when the patent office publishes the application for everyone to see. Patents at this stage can be denied and abandoned.

I can’t speak to whether or not the patent will ever be awarded. But you are also correct that it has to result in a commercially viable product before it will mean anything for KBLB.

I haven’t had the time to review the patent in full. Some patents report experiments including results to demonstrate the method works. For example, one of the Spiber patents included experimental results showing their method of controlling the expression of ‘brewed protein’ genes led to an increase in the amount of protein produced. Did KBLB report the actual synthesis of the proteins they discussed?
