Aside from the controversy, I thought this was an interesting piece of apparent common knowledge within the industry.

New drugs often start out as later-line therapies before moving up to the first-line setting, and data from the earlier-line treatment can be used to support the later-line settings.

I think he got things a bit jumbled there in his article, but I think I get the gist.
