Diabetes is in my genes - 1 grandma died many years ago mid 1900's, 2 brothers have it and my daughter, I have several cousins as well. It is the most concerning to me as well. Without insulin they die! Also the fear of going DKA. I understand where you are comimg from and I get it. My daughter went DKA a few times - the most scary thing ever. My cousin went DKA and died when he was 38. DIABETES 1 SUCKS. Now diabetes 2 you can control thru diet exercise and meds. type 2 NO NEED FOR INSULIN which is what keeps diabetes, type 1 patients alive everyday. JMO. PS If they had pancreas transplant I would have given my daughter mine along time ago.
