Some shareholders chose to buy at the lows, understanding the price fluctuations of these companies and taking advantage of the opportunity to benefit from it. Others did not and are still complaining about the massive price fluctuations, a common aspect of these small biotechs, as if it was unpredictable and outrageous thing that was avoidable but for "management". Understanding what one invests in, the kind of asset and the business/economic cycles around them is as important as understanding the company, its management, the regulations around it being successful and when to buy to best manage one's risks. If one trades, likewise, when to sell, though I do not as a general rule trade for profit, though I do manage tax gains and losses over a portfolio.

The risk for most investors is blaming others for their own bad decisions and bad management of their investments. That leads to more and more mistakes over an investing career. On bulletin boards, you can usually spot those people. So it's always good to read with a careful eye and not presume that everyone's mistakes characterize a company, technology, investment sector, asset type or even a management strategy. One investor's experience is not the same as the experience of other investors.
