Worcester, MA's airport sits on a hill. Planes land uphill and take off downhill.

One December evening my dad was flying back from NYC and it had been freezing rain all day in Worcester. The plane was due to land at 7PM and before I left the house I called the airport and asked if the flight was cancelled. Nope if they can take off then they are good to go. I drove to the airport while it continued to get icy. When I got there I asked the desk now how the hell is that plane supposed to land when everything is freezing over. ( this was before they wised up and checked destinations to see what the weather was.)

Of course they diverted to Manchester, NH loaded them on a bus and around midnight they got to Worcester. The stewardess was kind enough to give him 3 airplane bottles of bourbon for the bus ride home.
