I just don't know enough about KM curves to say that I do or don't like them.

What I do like about them is that they tell more of the story of what you are measuring than a simple median (the spot in the middle). So if something didn't do so well in the beginning but was stellar later on, the differences in the curves will capture that. I think of that space in between the two curves as square footage, and the KM will demonstrate all of it.

Now if, as in the case with Optune, you stop a trial at two years, and then extrapolate the data outwards for three more years, that kind of hustle will be recognized by those who know how to read these curves. That's why quite a few doctors were not so keen on Optune's data. But it's important to remember that Optune is a "device" and so it's not subject to the more intense review that a medicine or biologic is.
