A 4 year old post mortem on the '16 election. 4 years later 7M more people voted for Biden than for Trump; all of the states that narrowly handed the electoral votes to Trump in '16 flipped in '20.

Why? Less about Trump as a nakedly bigoted prick than about his being a criminally incompetent, amoral, junk science promoting ass hat.

All of the voters who looked away from that are still out there.

Too many of those same voters are sickening and dying due to the residual effects of Trump's politicization of the Covid response.

Truly, a legacy of stupid that insists that vaxxes infringe on personal freedom when no such objections were raised when they were required to vax to attend public schools or when they joined the military.

Not all of those voters are racial bigots but all racial bigots who vote, vote Republican. There are no analyses going back 60 years that do not confirm that fact.

Seriously, who speaks to, dog whistles to, their grievances, resentments and bigotries, other than the GOP?
