Dan...Yes, and while it is harsh in deep winter I still see beauty especially right after a snowfall. I didn't go back too much in the winter after I left but tried to go every August. I was told by a native once not to ever tell anyone how beautiful the Dakotas were...they wanted to keep it a secret ...didn't want newcomers. Hah! Would anyone believe me if I did tell them? No way!
Beautiful plate, btw. Did you ever wonder how the pheasants, wild turkeys, squirrels and other wildlife managed to survive the 45 below zero temps up there?
True story...My sis sent me a newspaper clipping a couple years ago...a grasshopper was found alive in the middle of winter, it made the headlines in my home town. ROFL
I've never invested in diamonds before...I must take the time to look into NSDM soon. It does sound interesting.
I've left the best for last...I only reveal my techie secrets to my very close friends but since you're a fellow Dakotan, I will confide in you.
(Whisper) First of all I............. and then I............, also, one has to .............See, it's really easy, no? ;)
