Calgary had a few Donair shops open but it is really a unique Halifax thing. Its a spicy Gyro really. Its a messy eat and many eat it late at night after a night of drinking so good chance you wake up smelling of it LOL and it sticks with you for a day or more LOL. Every pizza shop sells them. Most shops are independent non chain ones . Many now run by 2nd generation Lebanese or Greek folks. The big difference from a gyro is the sauce.

here is where the young congregate at 3 am. about 6 pizza/donair shops just on this corner. Its a huge university town.
