WEST AFRICA: GHANA'S SMART VILLAGES Californian technology company TPT Global Tech has entered into a strategic technology agreement with Skybridge West Africa (SWA) to develop 20 smart villages in Ghana. Ghana’s Ministry of Works and Housing has granted community development approval to SWA for the USD 5 billion project. The company will conceptualise and construct 100,000 houses over the next five years. The planned developments will be equipped with the latest technology and infrastructure including renewable energy and high-speed broadband. Currently, about 60% of the urban population in African cities lives in informal settlements. Population growth and climate change are expected to put further pressure on cities across the continent.
