They spontaneously combusted which is why no evidence of arson has ever been disclosed. Also arson doesnt cause cars to burn up completely. However what does is induced currents in the wiring and batteries.

If the grounding work in the DC power distribution system is not properly handled, electromagnetic circulation problems can easily cause leakage current when the system is running. The accumulated heat due to the leakage current in battery cabinets, cables et al. may cause local high temperatures, leading to potential fire of the batteries as a safety risk



This explains why the 1 Tesla only caught fire in the front of the car; localized heating of the wiring possibly 12v system. The others appear to be the result of electromagnetic circulation in the batteries leading to thermal runaway. Battery fires cause the car to burn up in such a manner. Electrical wiring/12v fires cause only the front of the car to burn up as seen in the Model Y fire in my pinned post
