Here is video footage of the Teslas that combusted in Sweden. The interesting thing is the degree that the cars burned varies. The one closest to the building underneath cover only burned on the side facing away from the building and not covered by the overhang. The fire in that car doesnt appear to have bothered the battery packs. The cars furthest away from the building and not undercover were completely melted down.

Arson shouldnt cause varying degree of melting between cars and shouldn't be able to burn hot enough to melt the battery pack. However induced currents from electromagnetic fields absolutely can cause batteries to ignite. Also the building would have interfered with the EMFs so its not surprising the cars closest to the building burned the least.

If I was going to go through the effort to light all these cars on fire I would make sure the building caught on fire too.

In arson cases affecting EVs, it normally burns some components in the car, such as the interior, but the battery pack remains intact. That’s what happened to a Model S in Norway in August 2019, as Tom Moloughney reported for InsideEVs.
