That was not the only bad call the umpire was horrible behind the plate. And when your playing the dodger and giants everyday, you can't have bad calls go against you (Your margin of victory is small to begin with), and that mcniel strike was a joke, you shouldn't have to swing at that regardless of count, that ball was nowhere near a strike. But that wasn't the only call that guy missed. he has one of the worst strike zone I have seen this year, he was that bad. I'm surprised Rojas didn't get thrown out again with the umpires, they were really bad last night.
As for Mcniel he hasn't got a hit of any kind in what seems forever. This is a guy who has hit well over 300 every year the last three years. That is thing about this team, you look at all these guy OPS the last two to three years and than look at it this year. These guys are not 35, there in there 20's there is no reason for this collective fall off, but they all did it this year and the fall off is massive. From Conforto, to mcniel, to dom smith, the list goes on.
Even guys like Pillar, he was brought into face lefties, with almost a 280 career ba against them,, this year he is hitting 188. I mean the only thing that made me happy las night was watching mcniel lose it, at least I knew they actually cared at that point. As I said this 2021 team is perhaps the worst team (In terms of the most compalacent, underachiving, and aggravating) team to watch over the last 31 years I watched mets baseball, yes it is really that bad in my opinion.
