Yea, I dont think I could have said it much better than that :) I am not an expert on the short side of the market, but I have a friend that is trying to take me to the next level, failures to deliver for example, as well as options to hedge long positions.
I do short stocks, but not very often, and always listed stocks, because there are so many press release catalysts in the OTC, it only takes 1 time to get caught off guard and you are ruined. Where as you are long on a stock, the most you can lose is 100% of your investment.. On the short side, it is UNLIMITED. Thus why I stay away from shorting otc stocks lol.
Now, Ortex is a great great site for looking up stuff such as FTDs, and being able to see short positions being covered. However, its a $49 a month paid site. And other than fintel I do not know of any free sites that provide us that info.
Im certain there are others on ihub, even here on TSOI whom are more of an expert in this arena than I am.
But yea, seems you have a pretty good grasp on how this works. The MMs most always play both ways at the same time, so do people like Blackrock and Vanguard. They have stake in everything on earth.. Not joking about that either.
