The population size of a country has nothing to do with how large a clinical trial population needs to be for statistical power.



Population is correct, but not the country's, but the disease's population.

If your claim were the case, then all trials, regardless of the disease, would have, at a minimum, the same "x" participants for P1's; "y" for P2's; and, "z" for P3's, which is obviously not the case.

Since this is not the case, Down Under with an AD population of ~500,000, doesn't need as many to be significant to its impacted citizens as the USA with 5 million+.

The other way to view this is that Anavex is not recruiting 450 participants for its Rett trials as that group impacted is not so great a number.
