I was talking to the manager at our curb market here last week.
They also sell gas and are open 24x7.
Employees get one week vaca after a year. They get no sick days and work 6 days a week. But the hours are fixed so they don't go over 40 hours to get OT. They also don't get a discount on gas.
They also have to empty all the trash inside and out at the pumps, clean the bathrooms, mop the floors and stock the shelves since it doubles as a mini-mart. Any shortages on the registers comes out of their paychecks. Lottery tickets are a pain for them along with money orders as well. And make the coffee and fill the fountains and slurpie machines.
Obviously this conversation took place outside the store. lol. I didn't dare ask what the starting salary was.
