You say that your internet went down so I assume you've tried to open websites other than Ihub (the example you cited).
Obviously you should do that it if you haven't, but even if you have and your internet is totally down, Ihub has a secret weapon....Meatloaf. M has helped me with technical issues and although they've been related to Ihub it's worth a try.
I'm for sure not a "techie" but this may suggest that it's NOT a network problem, especially since it sounds as if you're getting the right signal from your menu line:
"because Safari can't establish a secure connection to the server "investors hub...".
I'd MUCH rather ask Meatloaf first, then Apple, then Verizon.

edit: Also, in resetting your cable box in the future, pull the power plug from the back of the box instead of where it enters the power strip or where the power strip enters the wall. It SHOULD be easier and less disruptive.
