No, the BB's didn't make their billions from options - they buy big positions in promising biotechs and hold them for a long time, or until situations change, like their dumping 29B of AMRN series A converts after Du's decision plus sold another 6.5M shrs of common they owned. They have raked in billions from by owning companies that got BO, like AVNR, which I mentioned the other day - they were the largest shareholders in that stock by far, but they've made much more money on a dollar basis in other BO's. They've also made tons of money with great stock picks like SGEN and BGNE - in 2019 they had cap gains of $1.9M in just two weeks with those two, and holy crap, they've turned $14B into $26.5B in just the last year and a half! (no help from AMRN):
