Unfortunately, you can’t really extend the life of a patent chain by filing continuation applications. Your patent term for the original patent application and all subsequent child-continuation applications is calculated from your earliest filing date. The USPTO does do patent term adjustment, but that’s just for delays cause by the USPTO in prosecuting your patent application.
