At some point one would think that China will realize that their island building, intellectual property piracy and cyber shit are eliciting responses that are not to its advantage.
Add Japan, India, S. Korea, the Philippines and Indochina to the deterrence mix and America can hold their coats.
But Peter Jennings, the executive director of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, says Australia does not necessarily have to deter China across the board. “We just have to persuade them that the cost of offensive operations against Australia is going to be too high,” he says.
