Here is the most misleading representation by CNBC that I have ever seen:
https://www.cnbc.com/2021/03/12/tesla-is-using-customers-to-test-av-tech-on-public-roads-ntsb.html

I read the 15-page letter that the NTSB sent to NHTSA and have the following comments:

1. The article is written by Lora Kolodny. The name probably means something to most readers here. It was new to me, but a quick search confirmed my suspicion that she cannot stand Elon Musk or Tesla.

2.The letter is written by NTSB chief Robert Sumwalt in response to a request for comments on an ANPRM issued by the NHTSA. In case you are wondering, ANPRM stands for Advance Notice of Proposed RuleMaking. So the letter is an exchange of vi=ews between two federal agencies, NOT a direction to Tesla.

3. NTSB's job is to investigate crashes. "Between May 2016 and March 2019, the NTSB investigated four crashes—three resulting in fatalities—that involved vehicles operating in partial automation mode." Interesting that just FOUR crashes deserved investigation in over THREE years! Instead of lauding this achievement for a relatively new technology, CNBC continually bashes Tesla.

4. The letter is not specific to Tesla, although the article is accurate in stating that Tesla is mentioned 16 times. In fact the letter has one specific recommendation for UBER Technologies, none for Tesla.

A MASSIVE HIT JOB!
