IIVI/COHR - IDK why IIVI CEO decides to enter a bidding war for COHR. Seems turning themselves into a vertical supplier ultimately puts them in a competitive position with many end customers. Seems like a bad idea and overpaying as well. There is zero chance the merged entity can be the top competitor outside of aerospace and defence and those are not enough to justify the proposal. Perhaps the plan is to jettison a bunch of stuff post merger.
