The (hopefully) end of an era of lying.

A faction going for it trying to hold on to power.

Their fears are justified, it will be very hard to go back to
The phony jingoism to "rally the troops" too small in number
And getting smaller with the demographic changes and re-jigging of
The gerrymandering that made Trumpery possible.

Interesting your Bananalogy. True at the other end of the spectrum:

Can't locate a copy of the quote but one telling one that stuck from
"Capital - in the 21st Century"
Was how 90% of capital accumulation (wealth of the commons) is "locked away in luxury investment"
ie no trickle down to society at large.

Most people think of the 1% relative to the demographic’s yearly earnings. The Fed focuses on the net worth of people—how much they own in stocks, bonds, cash, businesses and other investments minus liabilities. The wealth of the richest Americans is about $35 trillion, as of the second quarter of 2019. The middle class—representing the 50th to 90th percentiles—holds roughly $36.9 trillion. At this rate, the 1% will own more than the entire middle class.
