Recently I flipped thru some yearbooks from the 1920s and 1930s. Looked up my mom and dad. Those book weren't much different than modern yearbooks except for the clubs. Plenty of sports... for boys.

There were few sports for girls so many girls were members of a group called the GAA or Girls Athletic Association. Most girl sports apparently were done on the club level until the 1950s.

Seriously, every HS in my city seemed to have an Esperanto club back then! One HS has a shorthand club (fun, eh?). Tons of groups for Future Teachers, Home makers and Nurses.

And quite a few upper crust HSs had investment clubs in the 1960s. My HS had one, but I don't remember it.
