I’d like to know why Biogen didn’t move ahead. I think that’s perfectly reasonable. Missling issued a PR, so he obviously thought the MTA was important. So when Biogen didn’t go forward, I believe Missling had a responsibility to explain why not. Maybe staying mum on the results was perfectly innocent (perhaps the result of a non-disclosure agreement), or maybe he was burying unflattering data. By announcing the MTA, and then NOT announcing the end of the study or the data, Missling left investors with dashed expectations (the stock performed well for quite some time following the news) and an unexplained failure. In my opinion, you can’t simply ignore the apparent failure of A 2-73 and dismiss it as unimportant. The scientists at Biogen aren’t stupid. Of course they did a deep dive into the mechanism of action and published data. If you believe they didn’t do a deep dive into the science and existing data, you’re a fool. And I don’t think you’re a fool.
