Do you really think patients with very poor odds of survival are going to forego chemo/radiation and hinge their bets on a yet unproven treatment? It's not NWBO "testing" this, it's human beings themselves. Human beings who are facing the real prospect of dying. People are not lab rats. You can't ignore what's emotionally reasonable for the people in a trial just because you think it would have made a better designed study. Asking about why they built in the cross-over aspect of the trial is along the same lines.
