"We have a new warrior to learn about today! Valentina (pictured left) has Rett Syndrome. Rett syndrome is a rare genetic neurological and developmental disorder that affects the way the brain develops, causing a progressive inability to use muscles for the eye, body movements and speech. Valentina's family was told that she would regress but she's defied the odds! "My daughter did not regress and is defying most of the debilitating effects of Rett. My daughter is not textbook nor the disease, she is a champion who tries everything." When speaking with Valentina's mom I asked what she would like others to know. She wants everyone to remember the power of their own voice. "With any illness you face, fight for the universal goal of love which equals the quality of life." -mom
