Exactly what I am trying to understand better. Wisdom is not merely conventional, but comes from data.

<I do very little trading in Roth and in 403b because of transaction costs; most of the short-term trades are in conventional accounts. I do pay taxes :(>

Well, then, you are making money! But don't you hate paying those taxes? It's hard to do well with a drag like 20+% or more of profits due to taxes. OTOH, I have held a lot (for me) of msft since it was cheap (mid nineties), because I couldn't pull the trigger on a sale, hating those taxes. What a waste.
