The WSJ has a nice article tonight describing how Fla got away with their behavior. It makes some good points.

I don't know if you read the whole article, but if you did, you completely mis-read it.

Local governments in Florida, especially those in denser areas (where Democratic mayors tend to be in charge) did put shelter-in-place in their communities. Also, Florida residents, many with close ties to New York State, saw what was happening in New York and learned from the mistakes made in New York. The article gives good statistics on how much commerce declined in Florida.

It's true that De Santis was half-hearted, at best, in his response, but local communities took responsibility on their own and De Santis, thank goodness, made no effort to stop them.

It's always interesting to me how ideology clouds our thinking and our reading. Florida, the article makes clear, didn't "got away with their behavior," if by that you mean that Florida put no lockdowns in place.
