His tragic flaw was his feelings of inadequacy vis a vis the elites of his day. Rockefeller and the Kennedy's for sure.

Yes, he always felt like an outsider. I've never figured out why. He evidently felt bad because he didn't go to an Ivy school. But did he ever apply to one? He really was a whiner, though not as big a whiner as Trumpty.
