There is a paved highway that comes north from Reno/I-80 SF that is sort of a little used route that goes north on the Nevada side of the border. It is how I access some of my desert areas by going south a bit from my place. Yesterday, I was going out for a rock hike and noticed that there were more cars than usual going north, and virtually every one was loaded down with belongings, pickups full of household gear... looked like a slow motion Grapes of Wrath scene.
Not a good sign. Too much fear is not good, and people have been getting fed doses of fear for a long time, but this time they seem to be voting with their feet to some degree. It looked like the exodus to Burning Man, but a redneck version of it. I just hope they keep going. The infrastructure of a town of 500 people cannot sustain a big influx of city people, although people coming to shelter here with relatives seems okay to me, but damn, I wish there was the ability to test them as they migrate north so they don't spread the virus to rural places with no cases so far.
