Malaria's NOT bacterial. It's an illness from Plasmodium, a single cell parasitic protozoan, transmitted to your blood system by infected mosquitoes. Malaria is a parasitic infection...
However, chloroquine has demonstrated some efficacy in treating bacterial, viral and fungal infections. Too early to say if it (maybe in combo with Azithro or other) will be the silver bullet, but they're working around the clock on it, guaranteed.

My inlaws in Nigeria have stocked up some chloroquine, just in case.
Interesting that sub-Saharan Africa has comparatively so few CoV-19 cases. Thus far.
Maybe their recent training from dealing with the Ebola crisis. Maybe all the chloroquine coursing through their veins. Maybe because they're largely just too poor to travel around the world and they get minimal tourism. Maybe it's the climate. Maybe it's just early days and they will eventually get crushed. I pray not.
