Perhaps there is some of that given the perceived bullying style of current administration. IMO economic slowdown probably has something to do with the rise of local brands. Many western consumer brands are sourced from China so if the quality is nearly equivalent and price is cheaper, cheaper wins. The luxury brands like aapl, lvhm, gucci, etc will not be affected as that part of the population are still doing well. My son's cohort doesn't think highly of Nike's anymore as an athletic brand. It takes me 3 months to wear out a pair of Nike's compare to 4-5 months for a pair of New Balance.
