You never hear of any shootings in any courthouse in the entire country. No judges get murdered. Nor, juries, nor defense or prosecutorial attorneys, or spectators or court employees. Why? Because you have to pass through a metal detector to get into a courthouse. Damn hard to bring in a handgun or a rifle.

Do our school children deserve any less? EVERY school, from kindergarten to 12th grade, should have one or two places to enter, with metal detectors and a couple of armed cops standing by. Will it be inconvenient? Yes. Will it cause some delays in entering? Yes. But every kid will be safe in their school. A small price to pay.
