So, what happens when the "intra" shorting is above 50%? Assuming the short is just one half of the transaction for the intraday market making trade then we would see the volume on the other half of the transaction once the intraday short settles. If all trades were immediately covered intraday then we wouldn't see short percentages over 50%. If it is over 50% then we will have a short carryover to the next day and that short volume potentially adds to the overall equity short interest.
