I agree with your post--to some extent. But there is a laziness an a societal shift in what is considered "acceptable".

Is it acceptable to have your second son wear the hand me downs (recycled) clothes?

Is it so onerous to mow your own yard? Why can't everyone accept paper straws? Recycled paper grocery bags?

Is it necessary to buy bottled water in plastic bottles?

Just a few examples that it is not just the need for the second job and a lack of time. The above requires LESS time.
