I don't think it weakens anything.

The specific family mentioned is not referenced elsewhere as either a positive or a negative. So that is a correlation that has not been tested.

As is the relationship of the other OTU increase. I get that this is Post Hoc analysis. It is at best a correlation. I'd be more impressed if they had gut biome data from week 0 to compare with.

It is an interesting correlation. The study they reference provides a bit of a baseline for comparison. For me, this is in the category of suggestive.

The whole area of gut microbiome and what influences the population shifts is not well understood. Not to mention the interaction of the microbiome with the rest of the body. That whole area is a new frontier and needs much research to begin to understand it. Just the issue of diet and microbiome is fascinating. And then there is the question of what antibiotic use is doing both as directly dosed and as residues in food.

Based on that paper I linked I probably will start taking Bifidobacterium supliments.
