The problem is this: just because a drug has a specific mechanism of action (MOA), and that MOA SHOULD result in XYZ when certain receptors are engaged/blocked/etc., doesn’t mean that XYZ will actually happen. There are hundreds, if not thousands of drugs, which have failed clinical trials after the science of their MOA demonstrates promising results.
