After prescribing Vascepa for a while i realized 1) insurance coverage is poor (except for aetna). I have many rejections and many refusals to pay huge amount of money due to high tier 2)some insurances ask for triglyceride levels. 3). rejection or refusal to pay big money for Vascepa usually follows with a question: “is there a substitute generic medication?” I say no. We will try in 2020. But based on the latest script numbers, it appears that many docs pick generic lovaza. As insurance coverage gets better the script numbers will go to infinity. PS i have a lot of rejected scripts or patients refusing to pay big amounts.
